Boiler Replacement
The project consists of the removal and replacement of the two boilers in the Central Plant along with a new de-aerator tank, three feed pumps, blow down tank and associated controls. Due to requirements for the system to be continuously operational, the work is phased so that a new boiler is brought on line prior to de-commissioning of an existing boiler. To accommodate the new fire tube boiler, replacement of existing windows by a new roll up door is required in order to move the equipment into the building.
The project started in 2011 and
was recently completed in April of 2013. The
biggest challenges were the existing
conditions and the phasing of the project. Working closely with the IOR and OSHPD, we were
able to change the boilers over successfully with no downtime to the facility.
